Whirl seems appropriate, because things seem to continue to spin wildly. In three weeks, North East Minneapolis Artist’s open their studio doors and share their art with lots and lots of people. Last year, when we first were given a corner in the Keg House, B and I traveled around Art-a-Whirl for the first time to swim in all the gloriousness of this artistic community. We began talking and planning about when we would be able to participate in this grand event.
Since that time, so much has changed. Over the course of the next few month, we came up with a name for our studio: Autumn Road Art Studio. We were moved from that first corner to another corner as the first space was rented. Then, we were shifted again as that new space was rented. And then finally, our circumstances shifted again and we are left without a space. Thankfully, this is not the end of our story.
Community Taproom is a new business that will be going into the Keg House, and the new owner was looking for artists to display in his new space. We met with him and we locked up a space and we were a go for whirling! Somehow the days and months has just zipped by. We’ve stockpiled our art and inventoried what we have. Last week, I ran off my first set of test prints (they look great!), I ordered postcards that will arrive this week, I set up my Square account, and B came up with a brilliant idea for a logo … a few napkin scribbles later and we hit upon the perfect design. I can’t wait to unveil it (B has to polish it in Illustrator first). It’s going to be a great event and hopefully, the perfect unveiling of our future endeavors.
Before then, (and at the end of this week) a grand month of nerdery begins with Wizard World’s Minneapolis Comic Con! And before that, Avengers: Age of Ultron premieres! And overlapping with Art-a-Whirl weekend is MCBA Comic Con is happening at the Minnesota State Fair Grounds (somehow, I’m going to try to do both … somehow). And following all of these shenanigans I have a reading with the Cracked Walnut Reading Series on May 21st. The theme of my reading is Fractured Fairy Tales. My story is so new that I haven’t written it yet.
Hopefully, by the time that happens, this blog will have a few new readers. In any case, the adventure continues.
More later …
