Also photographed in the periodicals lounge, here is my writing gear: I always carry a messenger bag of some sort, I found this smaller one that fits my notebooks perfectly; my iPod; a large moleskine journalist notebook for story ideas and notes, I also do some scene and dialogue work in it; pocket size journalist notebook, the same, except it's almost always with me, even when the bag is not; and a moleskine cashiers notebook, a new addition and a relatively inexpensive was for me to write zero draft material. I typically write everything out by hand first and then type it into my laptop. I find I catch myself over-revising when it goes straight into the computer and I lose some of my freewriting ability. Plus, notebooks never need to be charged and are very lightweight and portable. I usually have pens and notebooks for sketching squirreled away as well as a novel … so the little bag is pretty full.
