into the woods, the narrative

My week so far …

I drove north on Monday, a little later in the day then I wanted to, but I made it.  Drove through some rain on the way and found that rain had already been to my parents' place.  I unloaded and settled in.  There was beer to be drunk, a camper to mount and fresh air to enjoy.

Tuesday I read most of Michael Connelly's book, The Scarecrow and helped my dad get the boat together.

Wednesday I went into Duluth with my mom, went to the dentist, enjoyed lunch and a few moments by the lake before it started raining again, had a coffee and then went back to my parents' house and enjoyed a good dinner and a good soak in the hot tub. I also finished The Scarecrow

This morning they left for Canada, so I'm enjoying a little peace and quiet in the woods.  I had briefly hoped that I might have a guest, but it's looking very much not to be the case.  This is alright, time away is good.  Today I got up at five-thirty, saw my parents off, enjoyed a little more sleep and then got up and did not much of anything all day.  I watched a little television, began Dan Choan's book, Await Your Reply, soaked in the hot tub again, and basically tried to relax.

I don't know when I'm heading south again.  Maybe tomorrow, maybe Saturday.  I still might head to Duluth again and try to grab a few more minutes by the lake.  We'll see.  I have no firm agenda and a notebook to crack.

More later …
