a little validation

Can I just say how nice it is to get a little validation, a comment or a note that says someone appreciates you or something that you’ve done?  It feels good.  I’m exhausted now, I was up until 3AM again typing away on projects for my Wednesday night class and then up at 8AM for work (When asked how I used to manage working full time and going to grad school full time I used to joke that I just didn’t sleep–now it’s starting to be true).  I have no idea how I’m going to get my story to the place that I want it to be, though I’m still writing and coming up with chapters (though I have no idea when they’ll appear in the book …) and in addition, we had to write sample prospectuses this week.  Class tonight felt like a blur behind my eyelids slowly sinking, but we talked and joked and learned.  At the end of class I got my process notes back from the previous week and looked at the notes that the professor left on them, commenting on my observations or the parts of the readings that jumped out at me.  At the bottom, she commented that she was happy to have my energy and perspective in my class and thanked me for my intelligent contributions to the discussion.  I’m paraphrasing a bit because I’m here and the paper is over there, but still, through the exhaustion and fog, it feels good.

Hopefully it portents things to come.

More later …
